Guest 72%dark
A "Members' Lounge" in real life is a place where members can relax, chit chat, and get to know one another. On BW this happens indirectly, I suppose, when members post in the topical threads and reveal their viewpoints. It occurred to me one day that there isn't a thread that's more or less just for this purpose, is designed to elicit responses that are more personal, interesting and thought-provoking, and moreover can be continually updated to remain interesting. Not-so-small talk, I guess. So I had the idea of starting a thread where every day I post a question of a general and personal nature, and any member is invited to post a reply if they find the question interesting, or reply to other members' answers, and take the conversation where it might lead. Then a new question the next day. (Of course, older questions always remain open for discussion; just quote the original question so others know what you're referring to.) To give an idea of the kinds of topics/questions I had in mind, I'll provide a few questions (linked by a theme) in the first post. If there's sufficient interest, I'll continue with a new/different topic/question tomorrow, and so on. So here goes: Edited December 12, 2016 by 72%dark
Guest 72%dark
QUESTION(S) OF THE DAY (12 DEC 2016) 1. If you were on your deathbed and could summon anyone to your bedside to hear your last words, who would you summon and what would you say? 2. What would your last meal be? 3. Pick one song/piece of music that you would want played at your funeral. 4. If you died tomorrow and someone had to write a short (less than 50-word) eulogy in your obituary or on your gravestone, what do you hope it would say? What about if you died after living a long life? (P.S. These questions might seem morbid, but actually the point is not to ruminate on death; rather, it helps us to clarify the people or things we consider important in life. And remember that serious topics don't necessarily preclude the playful or funny sides of life.)

What about if you died after living a long life? 1. Since these questions are in the realm of imagination, one person I’d choose would be my first boyfriend (whom I don’t think it’s possible for me to find in the real world now). It would be enough just to hold his hand and say “Thank you” and “I’m sorry”. 2. I’d probably want a meal with many courses, like a dégustation at El Bulli but not so esoteric, encompassing many different tastes, flavors and textures. But I’d want to end it off with a comforting dessert, like a warm bread pudding with vanilla sauce and a dusting of cinnamon. 3. https://youtu.be/mC2vYfVUNTI 4. If it was tomorrow: “At least he always tried his best.” If it was after a long life: “The fruits of his labors and deeds may have been humble, but they touched the lives of some and made a difference; it was not all in vain.”

Love the general idea of your thread! But I can see this becoming very messy. Why not just leave it to once a week or once every time you post a new question (and the old one ends after you've posted the new question)? You can also change the format (font, size, etc.) or the way you write the questions. That way you can easily switch from moderator to a person who wants to give your opinions easily. Just giving my two cents. 32 minutes ago, 72%dark said: QUESTION OF THE DAY (13 DEC 2016) If you could live in a book, TV show or movie, what would it be? Anyways, VERY HARD QUESTION. Guest Glyph
QUESTION(S) OF THE DAY (12 DEC 2016) 1. If you were on your deathbed and could summon anyone to your bedside to hear your last words, who would you summon and what would you say? To my future pet dog bff: "Phoenix, down." 2. What would your last meal be? A home-cooked meal by a loved one. Preferably with orh nee as dessert, and some sour skittles. 3. Pick one song/piece of music that you would want played at your funeral. 4. If you died tomorrow and someone had to write a short (less than 50-word) eulogy in your obituary or on your gravestone, what do you hope it would say? What about if you died after living a long life? An epitaph... hmm. "The light after rain."

Thanks for your suggestions! Yes, the frequency of the questions could certainly be reduced; it doesn't have to be a daily thing. The important point is that it should be updated from time to time. I didn't really intend to answer the questions myself, so there isn't a need for me to vary the font etc. I just answered the first set as an example. Mroneonline
Joining in the fun here. But my answers to the first set of questions are serious though. 1. Perhaps not summon my mum, rather prefer her to be by my side and seek her forgiveness. (Should I ever pass away before her) 2. Hopefully something to do with chicken. I live to eat chicken haha 3. Salam akhir by Sudirman - super tearjerking Malay ballad about leaving this world. 4. Probably some prayer. His 'powers' are, e.g. being able to travel the whole world in a single night, fly on a sleigh drawn by reindeer, fit enough presents for the children of the world on said sleigh, the ability to fit down a chimney (despite not being thin), having an army of elves to do his bidding, being able to tell if someone has been naughty or nice, being able to reward them with what they wish for (if they've been good)... etc... In that case, I would hope to be able to grant wishes to many (really needy) people... Wait. I sound like fairy godmother now. Hahaha... Or maybe to fly around by reindeer - no need to pay ERP! And remember that serious topics don't necessarily preclude the playful or funny sides of life.) 1. a Catholic priest - to hear my last confession (may God have mercy on me). 2. a simple meal of my fave comfort food like lontong, gado gado or laksa 3. This is My Life by Shirley Bassey or The Greatest Performance of My Life by Nancy Wilson 4. My eulogy should include the phrase "Kim is a free-spirited man who feared God but at the same time, enjoyed all of the corporeal pleasures that the world could offer. He lived a life, struggling to be good but caving in to temptation once too many times. "Deep down in his heart, he was certain of one thing - that he loves God and knows Him to be loving and merciful. Edited January 5, 2017 by kimlo777 Quote Suck my tits and I'll lick your balls. Havent cried in quite awhile. Last time I remember crying was about 3 years ago. I cried a few days after i broke up with my (now ex) bf. I remember it very clearly. The day i broke up with him, i was fine-ish. The following few days were the same. One day I was driving and then all of a sudden I just started sobbing lololol. It felt good to let it all out though! 32 minutes ago, 72%dark said: QUESTIONS OF THE DAY (30 DEC 2016) 1. What is one lesson you learned in 2016? 2. How will 2017 be different from 2016 for you? 1. I am very much a typical millennial and that kinda sucks for my future. 2. Not sure if it will happen but I'm working towards it. I'm hoping I can finally further my studies overseas by the end of next year! I seldom cry. A lot of people see me as a very "tough" fellow. This doesn't mean I don't and when I do, means I am very very hurt. Nope, no one has see me cry before. lovehandle
