These problem is rather common - Sporeans are unable to express themselves effectively.

I do not think he did this on purpose; but on an impulse, he could not get across what he really mean to deliver.

I noticed that this is fairly common amongst those whom are educated in Spore.  (Yes, I am blaming the education system). Even our journalists, when on live reporting, many simply cannot express the situation (sometimes opinion) in a natural way without being painful.

Very true, just like the Joke: "Mee Siam Mai Hum" and the Fable titled: "Mushrooms and the Tree".  Not everyone can do a good Stand-up Comedy.

It's quite intentional... as a joke... but it's a joke that's not suitable for his speech, you gotta be a seasoned comedian, someone larger than life and giving a not-so-serious monologue for the joke to take effect... it would work better if he himself is a chinese major, some sort of humble self-deprecating "joke", but too bad he's not...

Weak joke in the wrong context, indeed a mishap.

SINGAPORE: A gynaecologist on Tuesday pleaded guilty in a district court to having sex with a minor -- despite knowing she was more than 40 years his junior when he met her for the first time.

63-year-old Ong Theng Kiat pleaded guilty to two charges of having sex with a minor and agreed to have 11 other charges that included oral sex taken into consideration.

Ong has temporarily stopped practising as a gynaecologist, as of July.

The court heard that Ong got to know the girl in 2011 through a dating website -- when she was 14 years old, and he, 61. She had indicated on her profile that she was 18 as that was the minimum age required to register an account on the website.

Ong sent the girl a lengthy message and the pair then exchanged phone numbers and began texting each other. It was through these texts that the girl informed Ong that she was 14 years old. After he had asked her to meet up, the court heard that the pair eventually met four times -- in September 2011 and sometime in early 2012.

The court was told that at their first meeting in September, Ong drove her to Bukit Brown Cemetery, located along Lorong Halwa, where she changed out of her school uniform.

Ong told the girl that he was 40 years old and that his work was related to stocks. Later, he took her to a hotel where they had sex. He then asked her to take two morning-after pills.

Then in early 2012, Ong picked the girl up from school and proceeded to the cemetery, where they had sex in the backseat of his car.

Ong's lawyers, Mr Subhas Anandan and Ms Diana Ngiam, submitted a psychiatric report to the court to show that there was a causal link between his offences and his major depressive disorder.

However, Deputy Public Prosecutor Sharmila Sripathy-Shanaz said that there were several aggravating factors -- such as the wide age disparity, and the evidence that Ong had intended to engage in sexual activity from the first meeting.

She also pointed out that Ong had taken the girl to the cemetery for the trysts -- which would be far from the public eye -- and had given the girl contraceptives, which would not have been readily available to her.

Ong is likely to be sentenced on November 11.

Third year communications undergraduate Toh Ee Ming, 21, was on the second floor at clothing store H&M with her friends at about 10:15pm when she noticed a commotion and a lot of people rushing downstairs.

"The panels had fallen and there were a lot of pipes on the floor and wires dangling (from the ceiling)," she told Yahoo Singapore, adding that the section of ceiling that had fallen took up a whole walkway that spanned approximately three stores in length. "We couldn't access the area and were at a spot where we couldn't see properly which shops were affected… we were told to evacuate very quickly."

She added that the mood among the crowd wasn't panicky, however — in fact, people were "quite excited" by what had happened.

"The staff kept raising their voices at us to stop taking photos and leave quickly, but a lot of people continued to stand there and take photos," Toh said. "A lot of people were quite excited by what had happened; they were joking about how the place was flooding and they had to run for their lives!"

Meanwhile, MP Ang Wei Neng said constituents were worried about potential hazards at Jem - which has already suffered two fires and had its opening delayed due to a lack of safety permits.

"I am concerned that there was some rush to open the mall," he said. "They may have taken some short cuts."

Not liking the title of presumptiously calling her "mad".

She certainly has issues.

Rather tragic if u think abt it.

I saw the video before it was posted here. As much as we like to laugh at it, I find it sad actually. You are right, she has issues and it is quite tragic.

I only feel sad for the cleaner who has to clear up her mess. They don't earn much.

Next time bring your issues to Clarke quay and Dempsey etc and wreck those white dens instead.

You will be a heroine.

sadly sadly. I used to be one of these kind of passer by who would take videos if I see something strange. but now, after a close friend of mine got into such situation too, mental issue, my mindset changed. can these people think before taking video? WTFUCK, if he/she is the one getting his/her video circulated all over the internet, how will that person feel. think for others before doing things. many people have life which are much easier than the rest, they've nvr been through the stage of seeing someone so close to them turning worse and worse day by day. look at the passer by for example, firstly, that guy in the army uniform obviously do not know how to handle such situation. WHO THE FUCK TALKS TO SOMEONE WITH MENTAL ISSUE LIKE HE DOES. don't know how to handle then just diam diam, do not take videos also.... secondly look at the police. how long is the video? WHY IS THE POLICE STILL NOT THERE YET? how efficient. thirdly, look at the staff over there, non of them are even trained to handle such situation. instead of just going through this rat race in Singapore, ppl shld actually educate themselves, how to handle such situation. wad for your take videos like that? to embarrass them? makes you happy? at the very least, the public should at least have a sympathetic heart right? wad have you learnt in schools??? WTH im still angry after ranting. RAH!

"This is why mental illness should be a public health concern and the general public should be properly educated on what mental illness really is. It is quite unfortunate to see that not one person in this supermarket had minimal knowledge on how to respond and react to this situation... Instead, they just kept on filming her and saying that she's "crazy" like she's a wild animal prancing around its habitat. It's time to break the social stigma of the mentally ill."

lol okay, just clicked the youtube click and saw this comment. exactly wad I meant above. my English not that powerfull >.<

You also say that you used to be one of them before. Suddenly because something happened to change you, you suddenly become more morally upright and are allowed to criticise them? Ask yourself why it had to take a similar situation happening to your friend for you to begin to have the ability to empathise instead of you having the ability to be considerate to other people right from the start. And now you are criticising others for not having the ability to empathise when you didn't have any when it came to a stranger. I don't think you have the right to criticise.

I agree that the situation could have been handled much better. But ranting and criticising really helps nothing.

I knew it, before I posted that, I thought to myself that confirm someone would pick on this point and shoot me back. Expected much, but posted anyway. Now the problem here is that I used the word "something strange". I didnt say mental people. When I was younger, I didnt know that there was such a thing know as mental illness until my friend got it. 不知者无罪, if I dont even know there is such a thing as mental illness, how do I know that im doing something wrong when taking a video of them? Mind you, the person taking that video is a full grown adult, she/he even knows that that lady has mental issues. Knowing that, why still take a video?

"And now you are criticising others for not having the ability to empathise when you didn't hav any when it came to a stranger" bitch, im very unhappy with this sentence, you dont even know me how can u say such a thing. I am a very sympathetic person from as long as I can recall.

arent u criticising and ranting at me also? "Roll eyes" criticising and ranting doesnt help? Bitch please... at least a hundred hav read wad I wrote. After reading, doesnt it create public awareness?

Well, to see who is the one criticising or ranting here, just take a look at my tone and yours. Your original post sounded angry and full of self righteousness. I was calmly expressing an opinion about the irony of criticising others when you aren't any better and look at your tone of reply. Even taking it to the point of calling me a bitch? Sounds like I touched a raw nerve somewhere...

Let me refute a few points you brought up later. Even if a few hundred have read your post, so? I don't see how reading your post helps the situation any. Were there any constructive advice on how to improve the situation that we can send to the mental health awareness council or something?

So according to you, if it is not mental illness means it's ok to take videos of other people without their consent? How do you verify whether they have mental illness or not before taking video of them? So what happened to caring about other people's feelings? So hypocritical. I know it's very convenient to push the blame away by saying oh you were just a kid and you're ignorant. Well ignorant or not, you still did it. So heavily criticising others when you are just as bad is just lame.

You say that I can't say what I said when I don't know you. Then what gives you the right to say those things about other people when you don't know them? If you were really sympathetic, you should be able to see that. Come on, you're just full of irony la.

Assistant pastor sentenced to jail for sex with underage girl

An assistant pastor who had oral sex with a 15-year-old church-goer has been sentenced to 16 months' jail.

SINGAPORE: An assistant pastor who had oral sex with a 15-year-old church-goer has been sentenced to 16 months jail.

The 46-year-old, who cannot be named to protect the girl's identity, admitted to having the girl -- who was 15-years old at the time of the acts -- perform oral sex on him on two occasions.

The first was at a park along Bartley Road between end-September and early-October 2011. Then again in mid-October 2011 at the fourth level of the church, located in central Singapore. A third charge was taken into consideration.

At the time of the offences, the father-of-three was planning programmes for church members, among other administrative duties.

He met the girl in 2010 in the course of organising activities for the church's youth members. They got closer after an overseas mission to Myanmar.

The pastor started contacting the girl via calls, explicit emails and mobile texts -- where he would ask her for sex and said he loved her.

The court heard how he initiated the oral sex at the park and the victim pushed him away after a few seconds.

Court documents showed that the accused asked the girl to help him out at the church with some chores.

He brought the girl to the fourth level to have oral sex, while the other pastors were on the ground floor.

The victim only made a report after realising what he had done was wrong.

In its submissions, the prosecution said the accused was 29 years older than the girl.

Prosecutor Ng Yiwen said the pastor not only abused his authority and the trust placed in him, but his actions also undermined the public's trust in the church. Mr Ng pointed out that the girl was "nothing more than a sexual plaything" to the accused, and that there was a certain degree of "moral corruption" involved.

The fact that the act was performed within the church is also an aggravating factor. Thus, Mr Ng urged for a range of 12 to 20 months jail per charge.

However, the defence argued that the pastor's judgement was impaired because of his work and personal environment. Lawyer Wee Pan Lee said circumstances led to him being in a depressed mood and addicted to sex. These conditions, he said, were untreated.

Mr Wee asked for a jail term of between 10 and 15 months per charge, since his client was a first offender.

The accused, who last worked as a hourly-paid dishwasher, could have been jailed up to 10 years, fined, and caned on each count.
