Guest In Jest
I don't get it. Soldiers are supposed to be tough and rough. The army sings MACHO songs like Purple Light talking about "raping" woman. And they don't see anything wrong until civil society complains. We all in NS hear about the Regular Officers and Encik calling chicken when overseas. So what does the LTC needs to be ashamed of ? Because he got caught and exposed and revealing that SAF regulars call chicks ? Breaking the army golden rule that you can do it but just don't get caught. Note: In jest ! thickhead79
SINGAPORE - A 20-year-old youth, after going absent without leave from national service, tricked a 13-year-old girl to his flat, locked her in and tried all ways and means to get her to have sex with him.He offered her money, pinned her down on the bed, punched her on the head and threatened her with a knife. The girl finally relented when she felt she had no choice but to have sex with him so that she could go home.On Friday, the youth pleaded guilty to aggravated rape, wrongful confinement, criminal intimidation and causing hurt to the girl.He also pleaded guilty to three other charges of sex with a minor, which involved other girls, who were aged 13 and 14 at the time. One of the girls, who became pregnant and underwent an abortion, is still his girlfriend. The prosecution asked for the youth to be sentenced to 12 years' jail and 12 strokes of the cane but his lawyer asked for him to be sent for reformative training, which can last for between 18 months and three years.Sentencing was adjourned as the High Court called for a pre-sentencing report to determine if he was suitable for reformative training.- See more at: http://www.straitstimes.com/news/singapore/courts-crime/story/youth-20-pleads-guilty-rape-wrongful-confinement-13-year-old-girl-#xtor=CS1-
Fiacla
RIPhttp://www.allsingaporestuff.com/article/damai-sec-student-posted-about-his-suicide-plans-months-he-died 16 year-old Aloysius from Damai Secondary School committed suicide 3 nights ago in his family flat at Block 602, Bedok Reservoir Road, where he was discovered hanging from the ceiling by his distraught parents. Friends and relatives have all expressed shock at his suicide, with many wondering what drove him to desperation.Yet some classmates and friends of Aloysius have been blaming themselves for not spotting the tell tale signs of Aloysius' plans for suicide.According to a friend of Aloysius, the 16 year-old was not popular in school, although he had many friends outside of school. This is why Aloysius hated school and posted often on his twitter account about his feelings of loneliness in school.Another unnamed friend of Aloysius said that since February this year, Aloysius had started showing signs of depression, which may have contributed to Aloysius' decision to end his life."His (Aloysius') tweets were extreme and he complained about his loneliness in school. He said that he felt alone and helpless, and asked his friends whether they could give them some of their happiness. He even said that there is nothing that he could be happy about in life."His tweets became more desperate by March and April, as he began openly posting about his thoughts of suicide and searched for ways to kill himself online. After 28th May, Aloysius suddenly stopped posting updates on his twitter. However, on the night just before he committed suicide, he posted a cryptic message hinting that he would act on his plan soon: "My night is near"Aloysius hanged himself the night after, the same date as his birthday.- More at AllSingaporeStuff.comhttp://www.allsingaporestuff.com/article/damai-sec-student-posted-about-his-suicide-plans-months-he-diedFB: http://fb.com/allsgstuff Edited June 25, 2015 by Fiacla

IkuTube
Guys, unless there is a proof/confirmation that he is one of us, please avoid making assumptions. Please avoid making associations of his tragedy to our way of life. It is just not ethical to do so here. As it is, it is a sad tragedy for a young man to end his life this way. All that we need to do now is to "think" of him and send prayers that his soul is resting in peace. And prayers to his family and his friends. Depression has many facets and not many (in the case of the deceased, his classmates and friends) were not able to spot the tell tale signs. This is so because sadness or downswings in mood are normal reactions to life’s struggles, setbacks, and disappointments. Here in BW, one can click HERE should one needs a shoulder to cry on. What type of friends a 16 year old had outside of school, and these friends did nothing when the boy openly posting thought of suicide. Well in the age of social media it's very easy to make a lot of Internet friends who may not know you in real life. If a friend of a friend added me on Facebook, for example, and I saw on my newsfeed a status from that person that seemed suicidal, I may not necessarily know how to react as I may not actually know that person well, and not in real life. I wouldn't be surprised if this boy was in a situation like that. At that age, one's main source of friends tends to come from school, so if you're ostracized at school... I think it highlights the importance of real-world support networks.

There is now this thing shown on that said website: Hence, it should make an ethical sense that all labels about the deceased are not to be speculated. Really, it does not help! Anyway, just to reiterate, here in BW, all our members must be 18 and above. The reason this thread is here is to remind ourselves that prolonged loneliness can have repercussions. Therefore, they may be too young to recognise his posts or behaviour as tell-tale signs of depression. Not wanting to do a post-mortem on this specific case but in general, it is hoped that everyone can do a part by not bullying anyone for whatever reasons. They r somebody's son or brother. They have been cases overseas where the bullied turned their backs on the bullies and gunned them down.
