sum1outhere_03
Personal Note: Guys - pls don't make work hard for others: don't anyhow throw condoms. http://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/singapore/all-in-a-day-s-work-digging-out-condoms-hardened-grease-and-rags-9349476 SINGAPORE: When PUB assistant engineer Azmi Talib and his team opened a manhole along the back alley on Sam Leong Road in Little India, cockroaches of different sizes crawled out haphazardly, accompanied by the acrid smell of sewage. The team did not flinch. Such sights and smells are an everyday affair for the “choke busters” from the national water agency. image: data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw== A manhole swarming with cockroaches when it was just opened. (Photo: Jalelah Abu Baker) For the next two hours, the team toiled in the sun to remove what was choking the length of pipe underground. Someone along the street, which is lined with eateries, had complained that they could not flush a toilet. The PUB team, which turned up within 20 minutes of being alerted, first opened the 110kg heavy duty manhole cover used on roads. Armed with a spiral nozzle, thin metal rods and their strength, they started their quest to find a choke they could not see. image: data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw== The PUB team fixing a spiral nozzle that cuts through hardened grease, a common cause of chokes near eateries. (Photo: Jalelah Abu Baker) It was a highly manual process: The men inserted the spiral nozzle into the manhole, fitted to it rod after rod to extend its reach, pushing the nozzle deeper into the sewer pipe and waited for the nozzle to hit the blockage which was then disintegrated through a circular motion. When the choke seemed to have been cleared - a good hour later - the team used a net to dig up the debris. Although it is nowhere near the size of the "monster fatberg" seen recently in London, the pipe did have its fair share of gunk. What they saw was of no surprise to them - broken down hardened grease and fats combined with other items such as cigarette packs and paper towels. image: data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw== Condoms were among the items found in the sewer pipe. (Photo: Jalelah Abu Baker) There were also one or two condoms, which drew laughter from the team despite their weariness, along with some coins and a wiry kitchen scrubber. The expectation is that once the choke is cleared, water would rush through, but it did not happen. The water level in the manhole on the other end, about 100m away, had barely subsided, a sign that the choke may not be fully cleared. They took to the rods again, fixing and turning on repeat, with visibly less energy. Not much else was fished out, but Mr Azmi was eventually able to inform the complainant that the choke had been cleared, and that it is safe to flush the toilet. For stubborn blockages, manual rodding as in this case is used. However, most sewer blockages are cleaned with a high-pressure water jet that is fitted to a vehicle called a hydraulic mobile cleaner, PUB said. In some areas with limited vehicular access or parking restrictions, a mechanical rodding machine is used. PUB attends to 36 such sewer choke cases causing service disruptions per month on top of scheduled cleaning and maintenance that is done regularly. image: data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw== Items released from the choked sewer pipe are scooped using a net and bagged. (Photo: Jalelah Abu Baker) Other than getting alerts from members of the public, islandwide sensors provide early warning when there is an overflow or blockage, PUB said. A MAN WITH A PASSION FOR THE WORK Others may turn their nose up at a job dealing with sewage, but the task is a satisfying one for Mr Subramaniam Pavaday. image: data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw== Mr Subramaniam Pavaday, who has been with PUB for 38 has deep knowledge about all things to do with maintenance of sewer pipes. (Photo: Jalelah Abu Baker) After all, he has spent his entire working career, 38 years, with PUB’s sewage department. The 57-year-old started out cleaning manhole openings, then moved on to inspecting pipes that had been newly constructed before they are deployed for use. He has crawled into them, mirror and torch in hand to ensure that they are ready. He has also gone down into an existing manhole, after taking the necessary safety precautions. But nothing has been more challenging than being in the maintenance department, he said. He has gotten used to the smell and the snide remarks from some people - but there are others who still frequently question his cleanliness. The most difficult aspect of the job? Getting permission from residents living in private property in which manholes are situated to enter their homes to carry out routine maintenance or to clear blockages. image: data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw== Mr Subramaniam guiding foreign nationals during routine cleaning. (Photo: Jalelah Abu Baker) “They will ask for an appointment letter, or why we put the manhole there, although it was already there before they moved,” he said. PUB explained that it is unable to give advance notice because the map does not indicate if the manhole is situated inside a house or along the roadside. Mr Subramaniam said it can get frustrating when residents put up resistance to his team’s work. “We are doing good for them, and they are doing like that. We are cleaning your dirt, not mine,” he said, adding that there are days when he has had to wait a whole day or half a day before starting the maintenance work because he does not have permission to enter a house. He told Channel NewsAsia that his worst days are those spent explaining to condominium security guards and management in order to start work. Other challenges include ensuring safety while working on the road, and handling foreign nationals from PUB’s contracted company, he said. A DIFFICULT, BUT SATISFYING JOB Despite the challenges, Mr Subramaniam enjoys the satisfaction of doing good for the public. He first joined PUB fresh from school at the age of 18. It was his father, then a repairman with PUB who recommended him for the job. Mr Subramaniam, who is single, is now in a supervisory role in the maintenance team. His knowledge and experience were hard not to notice during the two site visits Channel NewsAsia went for, one for routine cleaning and inspection and another for a blockage case. In each instance, he was seen guiding staff and his institutional knowledge was apparent. He was able to explain each and every cleaning nozzle in the arsenal, and reminded the foreign workers to adopt proper safety measures. image: data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw== Mr Subramaniam assists with clearing a choke on Sam Leong Road. (Photo: Jalelah Abu Baker) Mr Subramaniam plans to work for as long as his health allows him to, as the job is all he has ever known. “You can't say this is a dirty job. Every job has its challenges. We are helping the public,” he said. Hady Mirza, whose voice captivated local audiences in 2006, was also reportedly involved in youth work in 2013, having co-founded local group FRHM Youth, an organisation that promotes Muslim education and way of life among young people. But it appears that the former idol has fallen from grace and into trouble with the law. The New Paper has learnt that the 38-year-old, whose real name is Muhammad Mirzahady Amir, was recently arrested for suspected drug offences. According to sources, the winner of the second season of Singapore Idol was seen in the Changi Prison Complex about a month ago. However, the exact circumstances of his arrest remain unclear, and attempts to contact Hady have been unsuccessful. In January, Hady was reported to be a Grab driver, after screenshots of a customer's booking were shared online. LICENCE CANCELLED He was also previously running a home-based chilli tempeh snack business under the name Tempting Trading, which he set up in 2016. However, a business search showed that the company licence has since been cancelled, after its business registration was not renewed in May. Further records show that he was also struck off as the director of FRHM Youth in 2014. Hady, who captured the hearts of many music fans, had gained regional attention after winning the first Asian Idol title in 2007 following his Singapore Idol win, and the first of his two albums had gained platinum status, topping charts here. His greatest hits include his single You Give Me Wings and a rendition of George Michael's Freedom! '90. He was also nominated at least five times at the Anugerah Planet Muzik, an annual awards ceremony honouring talent in the regional Malay music industry. A spokesman for Artiste Networks, a subsidiary of Hype Records, said it was "dismayed" when told of Hady's situation. "The management contract between Hady Mirza and Artiste Networks ended many years ago and we have not been in touch with Hady since then," she said. "During the contractual period, we have always known Hady to be a good-natured individual." Hady reportedly tied the knot in 2014 with Malaysian Nurjannah Nur Wahid, who is 13 years younger than him. He also told TNP in 2016 that he was trying to start a family and wanted three or four children. His friend, Mr Jumari Salam, 38, an aircraft technician, said he was shocked to learn of Hady's arrest. He said: "How come he is involved in drugs? When I last saw him about a year ago, he looked fine." Mr Jumari added that Hady treasured his privacy and had been staying out of the limelight and focusing on his tempeh business. "Many of us lost contact with him, and now I feel like I need to find out more about what happened," he said. "It is so sad that he is no more an idol." abang
I remember Hady from the days when he performed at a pub in Orchard Hotel many years ago, way before winning that 2nd Singapore Idol. I think Hady must have had a roller-coaster life from the winning that 2nd Singapore Idol. In fact, he was the surprise winner of the Asian Idol where the voters cannot vote the contestant from their own country but 2 from other countries. He was definitely NOT the best entertainer that night but audience voting swayed towards him. Having that 5-mins fame did not materialize into real wealth and opportunity. He was sadly forgotten and suddenly, he became super-religious and became that perfect Muslim man that got married to a much-younger bride and settled in JB. Just when things looked settled with his "tempeh" business, he became an Uber driver. There is nothing wrong with being an Uber driver, but seriously can't you get gigs from pubs. Is society willing to give him a second chance? Unlike Taufik, the first Idol, Hady had virtually evaporated into obscurity. He is no William Scorpion, able to move the crowd in the club with antics and dance music.

Guest Star Fucked
Quote SINGAPORE: A 26-year-old digital marketing specialist who was part of a voyeuristic video group pleaded guilty on Thursday (Aug 23) to recording obscene videos of women relieving themselves in the toilet. Clarence Tang Jia Ming, a Sammyboy Forum member, also admitted to possessing more than 2,100 obscene films. Most of the 31 charges he admitted to involved hiding a camera that had been disguised as a wall hook in the toilet of a Starbucks outlet at Holland Village between 2014 and 2015. The court heard that Tang chose the Starbucks outlet at Holland Village because of "the high number of females aged between 18 and 25 years who were likely to use toilets" there. Tang also installed a similar camera disguised as a wall hook in his own washroom, and subsequently recorded a video of a 22-year-old female friend taking a shower. HE LEARNT HOW TO DO IT FROM FELLOW SAMMYBOY FORUM MEMBER Tang is the last of five men involved in the case to be sentenced. Four other Sammyboy Forum members have been sentenced to between six months' and three years' jail. Tang had learnt how to plant hidden cameras from fellow Sammyboy Forum member and co-accused Ong Yi Jie. Deputy Public Prosecutor Li Yihong noted that Tang was "skilled in camera placement", angling the camera so that it would clearly capture the faces of the women and their private parts. The videos captured were of "very high quality and resolution" and in colour, the prosecutor said. In total, he recorded 73 obscene films in this fashion, with 68 of them taken at the unisex toilet of the Starbucks outlet at 255 Holland Avenue. The offences came to light in November 2016 after the Ministry of Education made a police report saying that it had received information that there were obscene videos of schoolgirls in toilets or changing rooms. These had been taken with hidden cameras and were circulating on Sammyboy Forum, Google Groups and file-sharing website Volafile. The police raided Tang's home that month and seized multiple items, including hard drives, tablets, cameras, a laptop, an iPhone and three cameras that could be controlled remotely. An analysis of the external hard disk drives revealed more than 4,900 sex-themed films, with more than 2,100 of them certified obscene by the Board of Film Censors. VOYEURISTIC VIDEO RING SET UP IN 2016 Police investigations identified a Google group known as SG Horizon Club, which was used to distribute secretly filmed videos of women and girls relieving themselves in public toilets or trying on clothes in changing rooms. The group was set up by Ali V P Mohamed, a 46-year-old unemployed man, who was jailed for two years and fined S$80,000 in January. Ali set up the group in late 2016 and publicised the group on Sammyboy Forum. At its peak, the group had about 200 members. Tang was identified as one of those who had shared the videos, along with three other co-accused: Joel Chew Weichen, Shaun Lee and Ong Yi Jie. Tang, Ong and Lee also used Skype accounts to trade obscene material. Chew, a 27-year-old sales engineer, was sentenced to six months' jail in October last year, while 28-year-old fund accountant Lee received 11 months' jail in March. Ong, a 27-year-old customer service officer, was sentenced to three years' jail in February. The case has been adjourned for a Newton hearing in January next year as the prosecution and defence have differing views on whether Tang was suffering from any psychiatric disorder at the time of the offences. GachiMuchi
Man jailed for insulting modesty of hundreds of women, sharing obscene videos online SINGAPORE: A 27-year-old customer service officer was sentenced to three years’ jail on Tuesday (Feb 6) for insulting the modesty of at least 250 women and girls, and for the possession of 57 obscene films with intent to distribute them online. Kenneth Ong Yi Jie pleaded guilty to 41 of 258 charges on Tuesday, most for insulting the modesty of unsuspecting victims. He had installed hidden cameras in the washrooms of various places including universities, churches, cafes and changing rooms. He even installed one in his own washroom before inviting several female friends to his home. “The cameras are either hidden from sight, or take the form of innocuous items like wall hooks,” Deputy Public Prosecutors Tang Shangjun and Li Yihong said. Ong, who was caught after three years, regularly shared these films – which clearly showed each victim’s face and private parts – online, on a forum called Sammyboy. “Such a systematic and large-scale violation of the privacy of women and girls in public toilets and changing rooms causes considerable public concern,” the prosecutor said. Calling Ong’s case the worst of its kind, the prosecutor urged the court to put Ong behind bars for at least 39 months. “There has never been another case involving such large-scale filming of victims via the use of hidden cameras," he said. Ong posted so much material online that other users asked him to teach them how he did it. On at least one occasion, Ong met up with a forum user, 25-year-old Clarence Tang Jia Ming at Holland Village, where he showed Tang how to install a hidden camera inside the toilet cubicle at Starbucks. He even gave Tang a camera to get him started, the court heard. Ong was “skilled in camera placement” and taught Tang “the best viewing angles,” said the prosecutor. Ong also chose places frequented by schoolgirls and women aged 18 to 25. These locations included the Church of Singapore in Bukit Timah, Nanyang Polytechnic, SIM University, several McDonald's outlets, and cafes at Lorong Kilat in Upper Bukit Timah. Another user, 28-year-old Shaun Lee, gave Ong money to buy more cameras so he could take more videos and share them with him. Lee has been charged and is expected to plead guilty on Feb 22. Ong’s home was raided on Nov 30, 2016, after he was identified based on information from another user caught before him. Two men caught in connection with Ong’s case have been jailed: Joel Chew Wei Chen was jailed for six months, while Ali V P Mohamed, who started a voyeuristic video-sharing group that grew to 200 members, was jailed for two years. As for Tang, he has been charged with 70 counts of insulting the modesty of a woman, and has yet to be dealt with. Ong’s lawyer said his client, who has seen an addiction specialist, “suffers from a certain tendency”. He also alluded to a history of “issues”, although he refused to say what they were because members of the media were present in court. However, the prosecutor argued that Ong’s diagnosis of voyeuristic disorder is not a mitigating factor in the case. “The prospect of these explicit films of their faces and genitalia being viewed across the web, with no reasonable expectation that they can ever be removed completely from circulation, is a source of unending distress, humiliation and trauma for the victims,” the prosecutor said. For insulting the modesty of a woman, Ong could have been jailed for up to one year per charge and fined. GachiMuchi
Founder of voyeuristic video group gets maximum jail time of 2 years SINGAPORE: A 46-year-old man was sentenced to the maximum sentence of two years' jail and fined S$80,000 on Wednesday (Jan 31) for possessing 801 obscene films for distribution after a two-day trial. Ali VP Mohamed was the founder of a voyeuristic video-sharing group SG Horizon Club, which was used to distribute secretly-filmed videos of women and girls relieving themselves in public toilets or trying on clothes in changing rooms. At its peak, the group had about 200 members. Ali was arrested on Nov 23, 2016 about two months after he had formed the group. A member of the group, sales engineer Joel Chew Weichen, testified in court on Tuesday. He said Ali had required club members to share at least one obscene video a week, or they would be kicked out. Chew was jailed six months for having 280 obscene films for distribution last September. In sentencing, District Judge Kessler Soh condemned Ali’s actions and said he agreed with the prosecution that the offence deserves the maximum punishment under the law. Calling the case the "worst of its kind" to be heard in court - involving members of a large online community dedicated to the creation, distribution, and sharing of voyeuristic films - Deputy Public Prosecutor Houston Johannus said that Ali had "peddled in the humiliation of woman and girls". "This case ought to shock the conscience of the court," he added. Mr Johannus also emphasised that many of the films showed close-ups of the victims' genitals and faces, and given that there is “no reasonable expectation that they can ever be completely removed from circulation", it would be a source of "source of unending distress, humiliation and trauma for the victims". "Such systematic and large-scale violation of the privacy of women in public toilets and changing rooms also causes considerable public disquiet and concern," he added. Ali, who was unrepresented, had taken the stand on Tuesday. In his defence, he insisted that he set up the group for vigilante purposes so he can expose those who own such videos into exposing themselves. Mr Johannus called it a "ridiculous defence", adding that Ali did not take steps to inform the police or any government authorities of any wrongdoing. In mitigation, Ali pleaded for leniency, saying he was remorseful for his actions. He added that he felt sorry for the victims as some of the videos are still online, and he would "want to help the girls to get the videos out of the Internet" when he is released. Three others were also involved in the voyeuristic video ring - fund accountant Shaun Lee, 28; digital marketing specialist Clarence Tang Jia Ming, 25; and customer service officer Ong Yi Jie alias Kenneth, 27. Their cases are still pending. Source: CNA/ad Edited August 24, 2018 by GachiMuchi Quote http://gachimuchi2008.blogspot.com

Guest Rich Crazy Asian
Daughter of The Hour Glass founders pleads guilty to taking drugs, driving offence The daughter of the founders of a luxury watch group pleaded guilty on Monday (Aug 27) to taking drugs, as well as to causing a car crash that uprooted a divider in 2015. Audrey Tay May Li, the 45-year-old daughter of the founders of The Hour Glass, admitted to three drug charges and one charge of driving without due care or attention. Five other charges will be taken into consideration for sentencing. She had earlier claimed trial, but pleaded guilty on Monday afternoon after discussions in chambers with the judge, prosecutors and Tay's defence counsel Eugene Thuraisingam. The traffic accident occurred in Newton Road in the wee hours of Aug 28, 2015. The night before, Tay had gone to a Thai restaurant at Orchard Towers, where a transsexual named Jeri offered her "something to relax" in the female toilet, court documents said. Tay then used a straw that Jeri offered her to snort powder that Jeri had laid on the toilet seat cover. Tay was aware that the powder was "K" or ketamine, which is a Class A controlled drug, investigations revealed. She left Orchard Towers after this and drove to meet a friend. While driving along a three-lane road, her car mounted a kerb, colliding into the central divider of Newton Road, and crashing into a traffic light. The impact of the crash caused the entire traffic light pole to topple, obstructing all three lanes of the road on the opposite side, and also uprooted the central divider. The total cost of repairing both fixtures was about S$3,000, according to the Land Transport Authority. Tay injured her wrist, and admitted to the police officer at the scene that she had consumed ketamine and a glass of wine before driving. She was arrested and an analysis of her blood sample showed that there was about 0.5 micrograms of ketamine per millilitre of blood. Ketamine was also found in her urine sample. SHE TURNED UP INTOXICATED AT IMH, ARRESTED BY CNB While on bail for these offences, Tay agreed to undergo a psychiatric assessment at the expense of the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) at the Institute of Mental Health (IMH) on Oct 10, 2017. However, she went to IMH in an intoxicated state on the day of her appointment. As her urine tested positive for ketamine and benzoadiazepines, her psychiatrist reported this to the CNB. She was arrested by CNB officers outside IMH and taken back to CNB headquarters for investigations, where she was searched. Several items were seized from her, including a black pouch with a powdery substance, stained straws and packets of powdery substances which were found to be ketamine. Her urine samples were found to contain norketamine, a metabolite of ketamine, which meant she had consumed ketamine. Tay admitted that she had relapsed into consuming drugs two months before and took them twice a week. She admitted to consuming ketamine on Oct 9, 2017, in the toilet of a petrol kiosk along Bukit Timah road by herself, when her chauffeur had stopped to refuel petrol. On Monday, Tay listened to the charges, stopping to clarify with her defence counsel at some points. When District Judge Shaiffudin Saruwan addressed her, Tay said: "I'm on medication, judge." The judge then asked her to listen to what he had to say first, and she said she admitted to all the charges "absolutely, with great remorse". The case was adjourned to October for mitigation and sentencing. She can be jailed for up to 10 years and fined up to S$20,000 for consuming ketamine, while her driving offence could cost her a maximum S$1,000 fine and up to six months' jail. Guest omg
Please reclassify if needed: Dental surgeon who was jailed for molesting woman suspended for six months SO HANDSOME..GONE CAREER Dental surgeon Hoo Swee Tiang was sentenced to six weeks' jail in July 2016 after he was convicted of molesting a woman by touching her inner thighs while they were on an MRT train.PHOTO: ST FILE Facebook Twitter SINGAPORE - A dental surgeon who was jailed for molesting a woman will be suspended for six months, the Singapore Dental Council (SDC) said in a statement on Monday (Oct 29). At the end of the suspension, Dr Hoo Swee Tiang, 34, will work for two years under conditional registration, which requires him to be supervised by two dentists approved by the SDC. In July 2016, the dental surgeon, then 32, was sentenced to six weeks' jail after he was convicted of molesting the woman, a bank teller, by touching her inner thighs while they were on an MRT train. His appeal against the court's decision was dismissed in March last year, and he started serving his sentence about six weeks later on May 11. The SDC held a disciplinary committee inquiry against Dr Hoo on May 8 this year. It brought one charge against him for his conviction of a criminal offence, implying a defect of character that makes him unfit for his profession under section 40(1)(b) of the Dental Registration Act. Dr Hoo contested the charge, but the disciplinary committee disagreed and held that a conviction for an offence of outrage of modesty is in and of itself a character defect that renders him unfit for his profession. Related Story Dentist jailed 6 weeks for molesting woman on MRT He will be able to apply for full registration - under which a dentist is allowed to practise independently - only after completing the two-year conditional registration, subject to SDC's approval. While he is under conditional registration, his principal supervisor is required to submit a report to the SDC every six months. The SDC also ordered Dr Hoo to be censured in writing, give an undertaking to abstain from such conduct in future, and pay the cost of the hearing.
