Nine Gurkha officers have been arrested by the police for suspected involvement in a fight at Clarke Quay last Sunday morning.

One of them was charged in court this week for causing grievous hurt.

The Straits Times reported that the nine suspects were all junior officers from the Police Gurkha Contingent (GC).

They have been removed from their posts pending further investigation.

A police spokesperson said the incident happened at 3.35am on April Fool's Day when the Gurkha officers were off duty.

The Gurkha Contingent's commander Deputy Assistant Commissioner of Police Ross Forman said the contingent will take a tough stance on the incident.

He told local media that the GC takes a very serious view of the conduct of this small group of officers who have tarnished the contingent's good reputation. He also said that such behaviour is unacceptable and the officers will be severely punished if found guilty.

The victim has not been identified.

The police spokesperson said the police are keeping in close contact with the victim's family and will give them help if needed. Anyone who runs afoul of the law, including the police force's own officers, will be sternly dealt with, she added.

The officer can be jailed up to 10 years and caned if found guilty of voluntarily causing grievous hurt.

That's it, that's even called news? When come to incidents involving gurkha I expect no less juicy piece of scandal with full page photos. I am now left wondering which silly sagged cunt trigered the fight and I will not let the matter rest so easily.

Agree! We cannot let the matter rest! Whichever smelly cunt triggered this should be dragged out to the streets with her face rubbing against the rough floor, hair pulled and cunt kicked until she can never use it again

Man jailed 9 months for molesting policewoman

SINGAPORE: A 25-year-old man was jailed nine months on Tuesday for touching the buttocks of a policewoman while she was on duty.

Ilham Tumpang, a former part-time waiter, was found guilty of outraging the modesty of the sergeant on New Year's Day last year at Mandarin Gallery at Orchard Road.

The 29-year-old woman, along with two of her colleagues, was responding to a call in the area.

The court heard in a two-day trial that the accused was walking by when he bumped into her and touched her buttocks.

However, the accused disputed that and denied touching her.

According to Assistant Public Prosecutor Raja Mohan, the accused did not apologise to the woman and was unremorseful.

He added that the man's "nonchalant attitude infuriated her" and the incident caused her "deep emotional distress."

APP Mohan also told the court that the victim "couldn't accept that being a policewoman in uniform, she got molested.":rolleyes:

The court also heard that the man, who has a daughter, was tipsy during the incident.

In his sentencing, District Judge Low Wee Ping said that there was "a streak of arrogance" in the accused and agreed with APP Mohan that he showed no remorse.

DJ Low also noted that the accused gave various versions of his accounts which resulted in inconsistencies.

Court documents revealed that the accused is also currently serving a jail term of 15 months since last December for theft of motor vehicles.

For outrage of modesty, he could have been jailed up to two years and fined and caned.

Bump into her only or deliberately pinch her butt??

There's a difference.

Women shouldn't take every opportunity to cry rape, will end up on the shelf

Some OLs I know would love to live out their fantasies as nurses or policewomen and have hunky guys molest them and pinch their butt.

Some of these office ladies can be very perverted.

Unbeknownst to you, they may not be wearing panties beneath their dresses.

When they deliberately bend over, everything can be seen.

yeah, if you're in homicide case at River View Hotel, at least it's easier for the police to track down the murder.

some grueome deaths in singapore hotels

http://www.asiaone.com/Travel/News/Story/A1Story20090316-128828.html

817-grey.gifThis issue surfaced after 64-year-old Japanese retiree Takamasa Koto was discovered dead in the Ritz-Carlton Millenia Singapore last Monday morning.

Hotel staff found the Singapore permanent resident's body, with a single stab wound to his chest, in the bathtub of his room on the 31st floor.

Preliminary police investigations indicate that foul play was unlikely. They have classified the case as unnatural death.

In previous reports, a Japanese Embassy official said that Mr Koto had also left behind a letter. His family members have declined media interviews. Little else is known about the man other than that he is said to have been an avid golfer and is believed to have been living in a Club Street condominium unit with his daughter.

His cremation last Friday morning was attended by six people, some of whom were family members who flew in from Japan.

Although his death caused little commotion in the hotel when it happened, Mr Peter Mainguy, general manager of the Ritz-Carlton, said the hotel is taking all steps to assuage any apprehensions that future guests may have.

These include getting heads of various religious groups, including Catholic priests, Buddhist monks and Muslim clerics, to conduct cleansing rituals in the room before sealing it off for a period of time starting this week.

'We won't put a big sign on the door. It will just be locked and seem like any other room from the outside,' said Mr Mainguy. He declined to say how long the room will be kept out of service.

'It's the right thing to do for the moment. Some may feel these measures are unnecessary, but we will take all cultures and all feelings into consideration and make sure we do the best we can for those who feel these steps are important,' he said.

Though most hotels contacted were unwilling to say if they had such practices, industry insiders said these procedures are common when a death, either natural or unnatural, occurs.

According to Mr Kellvin Ong, general manager of Rendezvous Hotel, the period that the room will be kept unused will depend on how much cleaning is required and also the demand for rooms.

Religious cleansing rites are carried out 'to give our staff peace of mind', he said. The rites, coupled with room cleaning, could last from a few days to a week.

There are currently no sealed rooms in the hotel and there have been no cases of suicide or murder in the hotel's history, he added.

In Geylang's budget Diamond Hotel, where the naked, bloodied body of a murdered Indian woman was found under the queen-size bed of a fourth-floor room last September, it is also business as usual.

'We will try to assign other rooms before that one, unless the hotel is fully booked,' said an employee who declined to give her name. She recalled that a Taoist priest was called in immediately after the murder and all the room's furniture was replaced.

She added: 'Some customers who remember the news specifically ask not to have that room, and we will accommodate such requests. But we've had no complaints from those who have stayed there so far.'

Diamond Hotel is not the only hotel that has a room with a history.

In 1995, Briton John Martin, a former convict trained in butchery, bludgeoned South African tourist Gerard George Lowe to death with a hammer in a River View Hotel room and dissected the body in the bathtub.

Martin then scattered the body parts, sealed in black plastic bags, into the Singapore River. Mr Lowe's head and arms were never found.

In 1994, Japanese tourist Fujii Isae died in her ninth-floor room at the Oriental Hotel, now known as the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, in Marina Bay.

Two Singaporean men had tailed her and her companion to their room with the intention of robbing them, but Madam Isae choked to death during the attack.

Both hotels did not respond to queries from The Sunday Times.

At the Hilton Singapore hotel in 1974, Mrs Linda Culley was famously killed and chopped up into 13 parts by her husband, Michael Charles Culley, who then sealed her severed body up in a trunk and transferred it to a Cairnhill flat.

The hotel's rooms have undergone revamps twice since the incident, said its spokesman.

A staff member in a five-star hotel chain here revealed that most hotels have a Chinese altar in their basement carparks or in a discreet room in the hotel.

During the seventh lunar month every year, when spirits are free to roam the earth according to traditional Chinese belief, it is common practice for hotels to conduct prayers to 'cleanse' their rooms.

Prayers and cleansing rituals are also held in new hotels before their rooms are opened for occupancy.

Mr Robin Goh, assistant vice-president of communications of Resorts World at Sentosa, said: 'All reputable hotel chains should have such plans in place for all sorts of accidents, from drownings to murders, robberies, assaults and fires.'

He declined to comment on what the integrated resort - which will open early next year - plans to do in the case of such events, as plans are still being firmed up.

As most hotels claim to adopt the 'honesty is the best policy' mantra when it comes to hotel rooms with a history, you can ask before checking yourself into any.

'I believe in being upfront with our guests and letting them be the judge. No point in hiding facts from them as that will only fuel unnecessary speculation,' said Rendezvous Hotel's Mr Ong.

A former police inspector Lim Yew Chuan (林耀全) has been jailed for two weeks under the Police Act for two counts of abuse of power.

Lim was put in charge of a case involving a 29 year old PRC student Jiang Qing Feng (蒋青凤) and three other Vietnamese students who were arrested in a raid at a KTV lounge in 2009.

He was ordered by his superiors to give four of them a stern warning and deport them from Singapore.

However, Lim only sent back the three Vietnamese girls and allowed Jiang to remain in Singapore on a student visa.

It turned out that Jiang had managed to seduce Lim and he subsequently had sex with her eight times at various hotels in Singapore.

The 32 year old Lim is married and his wife just delivered a week ago.

The seduction will not work for gay guys! It is such a disappointment that so many straight men's reputation and career are destroyed by women! Thank God to be gay!

So , do you think striaght men who maybe attracted to Prc chee bye can do anything about it.

????

If a woman has made up her mind that a seduction process that works on a horny , lonely and desperate guy is gonna reward her with a better job prospect, more money into her pocket and getting aa bit of sexual pleasure at the same time, who in their right mind is gonna hold their horses and step on the power brakes.

I suggest everyone should wake up and open their eyes wide open, the floddgates allowing PRcs to come into Singapore has opened for a very long time starting from the mid eighties till today.

Just that Singaporeans can't bring themselves to do what PRcs are doing , when in China do as the Chinese do ?? Can Singaporeans outdo, outlast, outwit the PRCs just like in Survivor ???

From the mid eighties to the late 90s, it was just a trickle.

Starting from 2001 onwards, that's when the ruling party threw open the floodgates to PRC of every ilk, including ingrates like Sun Xu, wastrels like Wang Pengfei and rogues like Ma Chi.

And for those who don't understand the bashing of China nationals, that's because they're loud, crude, ill-mannered and an ungrateful, self-centred lot.

Yes, not all are like that. but MOST of them are (judging from anecdotal experience).

Stop fooling yourself that the PRCs are good people, they're not.

Then it is time we make it known to our elected representatives to stop the flow or lose our votes

They won't listen. Stopping the flow means a reduction in GDP growth which is pegged to their salaries.

And furthermore, they need a constant inflow of instant citizens to maintain votes for the ruling party.

Why do you think they're now so desperate as to come up with ridiculous and fancy arguments like "we need foreigners to stop the ageing population"?

As if foreigners won't grow old themselves and as if importing foreigners en masse will solve the birthrate problem?

The only way to deal with scums who won't listen and are impervious to reason is to boot them out.

Oh please! Open what floodgates? Sg is a cosmopolitan country, u want sg to limit or restrict prcs from comming to sg? Either u think sg is bigger n more impt than china therefore it can fxxk care n ignore china or do u wish sg to be a closed country n deny non Singaporeans from entering the country. No country on earth restricts prcs from visiting them. If china decides to ban its citizens from visiting sg, it won't hurt them one bit but will affect us greatly. Being gays ment being more tolerant not xenophobic. U blame that prc? I blame the policeman for letting his cock instead of his brain doing the thinking.

To 'mighty', 'proper representation' - I mean, if you think your voice is not heard, then make a statement loud and clear to your MPs, write to the press or even vote with your legs - meaning leave the country. No point bashing the new immigrants; your grandparents were probably new migrants at one point in time. Live and let live. Sure there are people who are loud, behave differently and have different habits.

Sometimes, I want the topic to be on the Main forum so that discussions of a more mature nature can take place, but then again, judging from the post by guests, I can't help but throw this into The Flaming Room like all the other post that talks about foreign talents.

It's always the same, someone will post a news about foreign talent and next thing you know, it will be bash, bash, bash.

So into The Flaming Room it goes.

Good idea to lock up a topic once bashing, racist remarks are made. Otherwise this forum could get into unnecessary trouble and then disappear in no time.

Morons like Sam64 can't tell the difference between racist remarks and remarks on uncontrolled immigration.

This difference has been explained ad nauseam yet trolls like Sam64 insist on deliberately characterising PRC criticism as racism.

Clearly it's a deliberate attempt to shut down all criticism of PRCs.

Sam64 should come clean and declare what vested interest or sinister agenda he has for demanding that all Singaporeans accept PRCs.

Well done Xuesha, calling me a moron.

What interest do I have? Well, I am a true blue Singaporean, and thus have Singapore's interest at heart.

It is people like you who are xeno that is causing all the problems. If you open your dog eyes and re-read what u have written, it would hopefully be clear to you that I ask all to live and let leave. I think you are facing the stress and pressure of foreigners coming into Singapore because you are incompetent and see yourself becoming uncompetitive and hence worried about your job. You should go upgrade yourself; but if you still can't make it, migrate! Go some less developed countries! But be fast, otherwise those people there would also surpass you in skills and competitiveness. Sad life you have got, but anyway, you can still clear the hawker center tables!

A 29-year-old man who claimed to have had consensual sex with a woman he met at nightclub Zouk, was sentenced on Tuesday to seven years in jail and eight strokes of the cane for raping a then 22-year-old woman

Ong Mingwee, who is self-employed, claimed during a nine-day trial early this year that the woman had consented to having sex hours after they met at Zouk in 2009. He is now out on bail of $30,000 pending his appeal.

In passing out the judgment, District Judge Hamidah Ibrahim said she had serious reservations about his defence that there was consent, reported The Straits Times.

"If she had consented, why would she call her mother — please come and get me? She wanted to go home," said the judge, noting that the victim had also called her friend to come get her.

The victim's mother had testified in court that her daughter, who had gone clubbing at Zouk, was crying and shouting over the phone in the early hours of 12 Feb 2009.

The woman's 23-year-old close friend had also told the court that the victim sounded scared and told her repeatedly to take her home, but the victim did not know where she was.

Judge Hamidah said that given the victim's state, she found it "rather incredible" that the woman wanted to have sex with Ong, as he had claimed. "It doesn't make sense," she said.

The court was also told of the good Samaritan who chanced upon the shaken and frightened woman near Block 203, Toa Payoh North early that morning and brought her home on his motorcycle.

"This must have been very soon after you had unceremoniously sent her off from the flat," she told Ong, who helps run a family-owned minimart.

Judge Hamidah also agreed with the prosecution that the woman was distraught and traumatised, indicating that the victim had been forced to act against her will. There was also the unchallenged evidence of senior consultant forensic pathologists Wee Keng Poh.

According to Dr Wee, the victim, whose blood-alcohol level was estimated to be 255mg/100ml, was mentally and physically incapacitated and could not have given valid consent. Convicting Ong of the offence, the judge said his assertion of consent had not been made out.

In his defence, Ong had said during the trial that the woman seduced him when they were on the dance floor at the nightclub. He mentioned that she was not intoxicated when they left and they kissed in the cab when he was taking her home. She also agreed to his suggestion to go his place.

Shortly after they reached the flat, he "freaked out" when he saw her crying. She said she was scared and wanted to go home. He tried to calm her down and admitted to taking her mobile phone while she was talking to the mother and friend.

After speaking to the woman's mother over the phone outside the room, he returned and found that she was no longer crying. He said she then agreed to have sex and they kissed.

Calling for a sentence near the maximum allowed for by law — which is up to seven years in jail, a fine up to $10,000 and up to 12 strokes in a district court — the deputy public prosecutor cited several aggravating factors.

He said that there was ample evidence to show that the far-from-sober victim trusted Ong when she got into the cab with him. He added that Ong knew how much she had drunk; had time alone to weigh the consequences of his actions; exploited her desperation to leave the flat and confined her against her will.

Ong who has a previous conviction for drink driving, wore a cap, sunglasses and shielded his face with an umbrella when he walked hurriedly out of the courtroom with three supporters, including his brother.

When contacted, the victim simply said, "I've just put everything behind me."

SINGAPORE - A former teacher from a top Secondary school is being investigated for allegedly having sex with an underage student, reported The Straits Times.

The woman, who is in her 20s, is believed to have had sex with the boy more than once.

The sexual encounters allegedly began when the boy, who is now 16, was a member of one of the school's sports teams.

The woman was the teacher-in-charge of the team.

The boy cannot be named as he is a minor, and the identity of the woman is also being withheld to protect his identity.

The police confirmed that a report has been filed and investigations are ongoing. The case came to light after the boy's parents lodged a complaint to the school.

The Straits Times reported that the former humanities teacher had left the school abruptly in March. She was reportedly seen crying in school the day before she left.

Those who knew the teacher described her as "patient, knowledgeable, and outgoing".

A former student interviewed by The Straits Times expressed shock at the news, as she "always put students first and knew where to draw the line".

The principal of the school declined comment, saying they have not been informed by police of the matter.

A spokesperson from the Ministry of Education said it will "work with the school as well as the police to investigate the case as necessary".

This is not the first case where a female teacher has been accused of having sex with an underage student.

In 2009, a 32-year-old teacher became the first woman to be jailed for having sex with a 15-year-old student in the school.

The mother of two had six trysts with the boy in holiday chalets and in her flat.

She pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 10 months' jail.

The Penal Code was amended in 2008 to make sex between an adult woman and boy below 16 a crime.

Just my question: Why suddenly there is a surge of such news in the recent few months? and those involved are NUS law professor, teachers, principals, high profiled civil servants in government bodies, etc. Before that, nothing happened?
