Well, I believe no matter what happens, everyone has to live up to certain level of decorum, depending where one is. He is current an Asean scholar in NUS, therefore he has to behave to societal expectation as a law student (especially now where Law faculty has been bombarded with at least one scandal involving a professor and a student..plus plus..).

He should have thought about it before proceeding on with his Tumblr blog. Now, he has to face the music.

I don't see there s nothing wrong sharing your nude sex journals.

If you like it, go along with the ride and enjoy it. If you don't just leave it alone, don't read and take your little puny mind somewhere else where it best utilized

Infact we need more people like them ( Alvin and Vivian), where they symbolize the breaking away from the boring judgemental self righteous social rules and conventions

Aren't many of us already so bored facing the same old boring social rules and judgement evetyday, day in day out ?

This boring fxxked up world we live in, is forever so ever fickle about whats good or bad, right or wrong, when those who judge the moral standards others, are morally dysfunctional themselves in some odd ways

In Europe and States, such sex blogs are so common because people take nudity as part of life. Either they enjoy or laugh along with it, then focus on other more important issues in life, and the world is facing.

Only small puny little minds who picks on very small things, can't evolve to a higher scale, so don't blame the homosexuals for disrupting the human evolution

If your acceptance is limited, so is your awareness, thus you won't evolve.

I myself did some sex made videos with some of my fxxk buddies before. With my consent some were actually posted in such sites, but our identities were screened.

Either by blocking our face or wearing swimming googles

Its just that people don't even know who have they been watching and jerking off, looking at the amount of likes and stars grading we had

If i got exposed one day, its no big deal.

The judgement and criitics - I will take it as a form of compliment.

And harsh comments, are by people who don't dare to dream and live in what they really like to do.

Thy just sit around and judge others, but are really cowards in reality to live for what they truly believe in

His timing is all wrong, at the wrong calculation

Nothing wrong with what he did, but could have done so after he graduated, and join the working force, and be totally independant from the small minded critics.

Anyway... If I were as young as him, I might wanna do that too... but... hahaha.. Maybe in my next life... LOL

I am definitely 'old' school.

I prefer my Asian man to look like Danny Chan, Leon Lai 官仔骨骨,白崭鸡, 斯文type.

Honestly if I am in my 20s, he does not appeal to me.

Alvin studies/reads LAW in NUS and with his looks (just looks alone), he could be the lawyer for Ah-bengs and Ah-Longs.

He is the type that fits the notion: 男人不坏, 女人不爱。

A total of 5 reports in today's The Star:

The situation is kinda blown up if you ask me.

Personally, I feel that many are still stuck with the Asian social stigma of tending to judge people, especially when both of them are consenting adults over 18 y/o. They have not inflicted any physical injury on anyone else or encroached on others' beliefs and rights like when Israel attacked Palestine or France banning Muslim hijab or Talibans destroyed Buddha statues.

If I were to think that they will cause a really terrible influence on the society, I would rather engage them personally for consultation and counselling, that is, if I'm expert enough, to give them face. No public judging or condemnation, but not exactly condoning it as well.

........They both get a rush from scandalising and outraging others.”

What the psychiatrist failed to understand is that Al & Viv's activities were made for both personal consumption and those actively seeking such. It wasn't advertised or promoted nor made public by them. Those who feel scandalised and outraged should ask themselves why they seeked/watched it in the first place and also question the media's intention for exposing something which otherwise would have remained relatively private.

Now that the couple have been thus exposed, they may be forced to take another career path along with choices which hitherto were absolutely unnecessary.

Their youtube video of 17 Oct really made me see Alvin in a different light.

This guy may look ordinary, but he speaks fluently and seems comfortable in his own skin.

Quite charming.

MCMC says reluctant to charge sex blog duo

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 18 — Malaysia’s Internet regulator said today it was reluctant to prosecute a young Malaysian couple for posting their sexual exploits on a blog as it will affect their future.

“If I go after them, it will be a criminal case ... their future will be jeopardised,” Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) Chairman Datuk Sharil Tarmizi told The Malaysian Insider.

“Enough is enough,” he added, referring to the investigation already announced by the National University of Singapore’s (NUS) Board of Discipline.

Alvin Tan Jye Yee, a Malaysian NUS law scholarship holder, and his girlfriend Vivian Lee were seen engaged in several sex acts on their “Sumptuous Erotica” website.

It was reported earlier today that the duo faced the possibility of criminal prosecution and jail time if convicted for exhibiting obscene material after they posted photographs and videos of themselves having sex on their blog, which was removed after it went viral in recent days.

Police Commercial Crimes chief Datuk Syed Ismail Syed Azizan said yesterday that the authorities were considering taking action against the duo for violation of obscenity laws.

He said the matter would be referred first to MCMC.

Under section 292 of the Penal Code, the couple could be prosecuted for exhibiting obscene material.

The punishment under the law is imprisonment for a term of up to three years or a fine.

Earlier today, Information, Communications, and Culture Minister Dato Seri Utama Dr Rais Yatim was quoted as saying that he will leave it to the public to judge whether the duo’s behaviour is acceptable or not.

In June last year, the “Datuk T” trio of businessman Shazryl Eskay Abdullah, former Perkasa treasurer-general Shuib Lazim and former Malacca chief minister Abdul Rahim Tamby Chik, were charged under the same section of the Penal Code for possessing lewd, obscene or pxxnographic material in relation to the video which they alleged showed Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim having sex with a prostitute.

The trio pleaded guilty and were subsequently fined. Shazryl Eskay was fined RM3,000 in default of three months’ jail, Shuib was fined RM1,500 fine in default of two months’ jail, and Abdul Rahim was fined RM1,000 in default of a month’s jail.

In their sex blog, Lee, 23, and boyfriend Tan, 24, shared sexually explicit photographs and videos depicting the couple in various states of undress and sex acts. The images vary from artistic portraits of the couple, to close-up shots of their genitalia.

The blog has since been taken down by the pair, leaving only an archived page with thumbnails of their previous posts dating from September 20 up until October 15, but photographs and videos from the blog have since been circulated by exposé site Gutter Uncensored.

Just because some want this kind of freedom doesn't mean the rest of society should embrace it. As for saying it is private etc, then let it stay private, an open internet blog is obviously not private and they have stated their aim to share it.

Very true and the first step is for the mainstream media not to dig up, report and expose things like this. What was hitherto poorly exposed is now common knowledge to the whole of society. Now, it's staring in the face of a child, the IT challenged, the religious, the elderly....etc. This isn't journalism, it's sensationalism and with consequences to all. If ever there was a need to limit press freedom, this is one.

As for saying it is private etc, then let it stay private, an open internet blog is obviously not private and they have stated their aim to share it.

Here's an analogy: blowingwind.org stays private to those who aren't seeking such content despite being easily accessed. It is also presumably its aim to share gay issues, resources and 'entertainment' to those who don't mind such content. Now imagine how ridiculous it would be if blowingwind was exposed in the press and hauled up by the authorities when it neither advertised nor spammed itself.

People and the press need to understand that discretion works both ways. Something which is meant to be selectively exposed shouldn't be forced to fully be.

101% for sure.

1. Malaysia will not prosecute them.

2. NUS will not expel him.

But NUS will stripped him of his scholarship as his conduct runs contrary to the prejudice of good order which is expected of a scholarship recipient.

We'll wait and see.

I think it's inappropriate because he's a scholar, is receiving Singaporean tax payer money for his education. As a scholar a certain amount of decorum is expected. More so since he is supposed to be a future lawyer - one of the requirements for being called to the bar is to have good character.

I think it's a bit selfish of him to throw that all away when many other people would live to have that scholarship or be in law school.

It's not about their (IMO quite ugly naked photos). It's about not realizing how fortunate he is to get a scholarship. If you read the papers he is totally not apologetic and at times challenges nus to do something. He has also made some rather rude comments about Singapore too.

I admire their courage to be true to themselves and not be blind conformists like most people. I don't see why scholars and future lawyers must be held to higher "moral" standards than non-scholars. They are not forcing anyone to read their blog. Different strokes for different folks, to each his own. Our society is only truly vibrant and inclusive if we welcome diversity. If I were on the scholarship interview committee or a prospective employer, that aspect of their lives is immaterial to me. Just because another person doesn't put up a sex blog doesn't make him or her any more morally superior. Our world is full of hypocrites and back-stabbers. Anyone who doesn't hurt another person is to me, someone with good character. What they do in their personal lives is none of my business. That's just my personal opinion though. But I'm sure I'm not the only one to hold such views. This whole thing is just one group of people posing as the "moral mainstream" imposing their "moral values" on another group who don't share such values.

True dat . And maybe it's a personal preference , but I'd only date (have a boyfriend) that's open about his sexuality .

Because wouldn't it suck to have a partner but he has to hide who he is , and you for that matter , to everyone he knows .

nicely put. it is so convenient to do the finger pointing as a distraction to the inadequacies of the pointer. who is to say what is right what is wrong? because right is 'right' only when a majority think that. it can hold water for a period of time but when societies evolve so does the 'right' values. to PLUs, setting up a family unit and bearing children means nothing to us. should we then change ourselves to conform to the family preconceptions and create faux marriages? likely not, in fact its slowly becoming the norm to move away from that gay or straight as observed by eric klinenberg. like what alvin says, some of those people doing the finger pointing especially in the media are just using their 5 minutes of fame for their own motives.

While I see nothing wrong with what he has posted, I think emomomo also has a point. When you're sponsored by an organisation, in a way you are a "representative" of that organisation, and should not deliberately contradict the sponsor's image and values. That way, I feel he has bitten the hand that feeds him. If he's earning his own keep, then he is free to do whatever he wants.

After watching their videos, I noticed that Alvin wasn't actually fxxking his gf but just humping. He might to be suffering from some degree of impotency cos his dick was NEVER up and hard.

Quite pathetic for a guy his age.

My thoughts too. However, in one of his interviews with the media, he said that there were much raunchier couplings which weren't recorded. Those that were, were akin to an acting assignment/project. Thus, I presume the arousal level was very low and hence, the lack of erectile prowess.

This makes me think of what it takes to be an "adult actor". Based on interviews given by those in the industry, it's really hard work to keep optimal arousal in such a technical environment. Male actors often turned to pharmaceutical enhancers while females constantly needed to lubricate. Kudos to those who did pxxn convincingly pre Viagra. Those retro actors were indeed "powerful".

Anyway, to support and maintain the hype, the actors, of course, all claim to love sex and what they do and perhaps it was true initially. However, with the quick passage of time, many burn out. The smarter ones diversify before they lose their foothold in the industry.

I agree with the above observation. Alvin is not that great in terms of size and performance, not to speak of the fats on his mid-section.

Recall the guy in the SP student video from a few years ago? Now that one has cute looks, lean bod and a long and thick one which remained hard throughout the 10 minute plus session. And he put it to good use in various positions. Alvin pales in comparison.

It really depends on which words with the particle 'the' you are using.

When it comes to words that start with vowels, you pronounce as 'thee' (http://www.englishclub.com/pronunciation/the.htm)

But some people get so used to that pronunciation that they practically use 'thee' for any word.
