Visited Asakusa Kaikan on Tue 15/2/2011. Arr after 3.30pm. 10yen coin wouldn't drop into shoe locker properly. The attendant had to help me with that. Then pay 2300yen entrance fee at counter. How to get there from Asakusa Station.

I find the easiest way is to walk thru the Sensoji Temple / Asakusa Kannon, as it is in between stn & Kaikan.

Get out via Exit 1. There is a location map at exit. Look for way to go to Thunder Gate(if u can't read Kanji just look for a big word with diagram). Enter Thunder Gate & walk along the street lined with many small shops selling all kinds of touristy things. At the end of the shops (and close to the temple) pn the left u will see a temple location map. This map also show the street where Kaikan is. It helps if u match this to the map provided in the Kaikan website. Once u find the Kaikan street on the map it is very easy to get there.

B4 Kaikan I went to the famous Ueno 500yen cinema. Wow what an eye opener. Enter the cinema at 11.15am. Already there were about 30 people in there. When I left at 3pm there were at least 120 ppl. 90% r above 55 yo's. And this is on a cold winter Tuesday. It just snowed heavily the night b4, but luckily no rain/snow on Tue, but still cold. Must b packed on wkend or in good weather. I was like a kid in a candy store. I lost count how many grandpas I played with. Most action happens standing up along the side & back corridor. Its bright enough to see the person's face & cock once pulled out of the pants. If u r into granpas this is a must visit place. I had < 5 encounters at Kaikan but countless in the cinema. I don’t think if there is free accommodation in Tokyo, as mentioned by Lazyone and other there is other way to stay ‘cheap’ like check-in in sauna, but there is no free lah.

Sorry u missed the cinema. To me this is the place to go if u have time only to visit 1 place. Im still amazed at the large number of them at 1 single place. U will be lucky just to get 10 in SG/KL saunas.

Best time in TMC is wkend, especially skin night on Sat. Sometimes full - better turn up well b4 5pm. Wed skin night is good too.

It depends. Are you absolutely sure of the name, "Ron's Video Box"? There is a specialized and a bit famous video box at Shin-Nakano. Both gay downstairs and transvestite/new half upstairs? Is that the one you are looking for? If so, I have been there and will post more info.

Ron's is good gloryhole action, no pressure, and pretty busy in the afternoons and night.

Hey guys I'll be in Tokyo for a few days, and have a question about overnight stays at the 24 Kaikan Shinjuku.

I've been there a few times, and also lived in Japan for 5 years so speak decent Japanese. I will arrive on a flight from the US at like 23:00 and so don't really want to spend US$100++ on a hotel, thought maybe the 24 Kaikan would be good. But I do like to sleep.... I wonder what I should do? Your thoughts?

Also, many of the replies here seem to be very concerned that they'll ask for your passport, etc. In my 5+ years in Japan, there was nothing to worry about--in terms of losing your PP (someone will return it). Don't fret too much about it--pretending to be Japanese, pretending to know what you're doing--just bring your passport and hand it over when asked, there is no country where it'd be safer to do so.

Thanks sebamed for the clarification. I am using analogies there. That is how some people (Japanese) compare the PLUs places in Tokyo and Osaka. Osaka's PLU areas are separated into 4 main areas; North, South, Mid and Shinsekai and these areas are like Shimbashi, Shinjuku, Ueno and Asakusa in Tokyo, respectively. There are others who dont use this analogies as well.
