Anderson
I've sent you a cost breakdown comparing bullet train travel and budget air travel.Sorry, I missed out the fact that you would be travelling for 2 weeks. My understanding would be that you would maximise your JR pass for Kyoto & Osaka and use normal fare in Tokyo. For a standard 2 week travel period, you would need to budget extra travel cost besides the JR pass as it will expire in the middle of your travel period. That includes travel to Narita Airport from Tokyo. Thanks for your reply.I had decided to get the 7 days JR pass to travel to Osaka upon arrival in Narita by ShinkasenWill be staying in Osaka for 5 days and will be taking day trip to Kyoto and maybe also Nara.Return to Tokyo by Shinkansen on the 5th day. With 2 days left on the JR pass, planning to go to Hakone on a day trip or overnight trip, returning on the 7th day, fully utilized the JR pass.In Tokyo, will be staying in Shinjuku, Kabukicho area so that can venture till late and not worrying about transport back to hotel. On return trip, flight is 2015hr, is it better to take train instead of bus from Shinjuku station? The reason for bus is the night view of the city before arriving at the airport but understand it might take 2 hrs. Personally I prefer the west Shinjuku area but Kabukicho is not too bad.A lot of tourists though. I think you can equally get a night view of the city from the Tokyo Metropolitan Government building @ Shinjuku, Tokyo Tower or Tokyo Skytree. You can get a good view of the city when the bus gets on the highway but that would be around the area exiting Tokyo.Taking bus or train is really your own personal preference.I take train because sometimes long bus journeys give me motion sickness. whitedick
There is a machine that provides a password which you gonna need to scan your foreign passport for a week of free internet (aint every location but there are numerous hot spots). It is located after you exit fro Haneda airport arrival gate, proceed towards the metro station. Located along the vending machines. Was introduced by a local dude. ThanksIn Tokyo, Ueno now.Trying out the capsule hotel for 1 night in this Oriental Capsule Hotel, a short walk from Ueno Station. For 4,500 yen, you can stay overnight in the premium capsule and free use of the spa, sauna and onsen and check out the next morning by 11am.Very busy with locals and some angmos and many eye candies, some with impressive packages. Tomorrow will be moving to Shinjuku for the next 7 day stay in Tokyo. Was in Osaka and Kyoto for a week before arriving Tokyo today. The Osaka trip included some suana visits was interesting and adventurous, will talk about it later. Not talking about pricing, talking about comfort and feel. Do premium capsules come with larger lockers? Of course the premium capsules are newer. Also, to my experience the highest floor is non smoking but even then one can smell the smoke - smoke travels upwards, I think the design in poor in that aspect. Thanks for info. Actually its not the smell, its the actual smoke - most times it was ok but sometimes it can be quite bad. Last time I was there, I opened up all the windows I could on the non-smoking floor, bet they saw me doing that on their CCTV, hahaha. Have you been to the other place? I think it is run by the same people - its another capsule place just around the corner. Dont know what it is called but I walked by it. Strangely enough, it is not listed on the accomodation sites (Agoda, Rakuten, etc).

Konbanwa lovehandle-san, Naa... they are polite - dont think they will ever scold. At most they will do a tsk tsk tsk, dont do it again . The last time I was there, the lady at reception gave me a pack of origami paper - she must think I like the art, or something like that . I am fixated as I like Ueno - I like Ameyoko, I like walking to Akihabara and Asakusa from Ueno. Yes, walk. I like walking in Tokyo as there is so much to see that the walk does not feel long nor tiring. From Ueno, I like walking to the kitchen street or kitchen town too. No, not Kinuya. I think Kinuya is a dump. Not Dandy too - I hear that management there can be anti non Japanese. I think the place I am talking about might be called Capsule and Sauna New Century.
