Legally, all Japanese gay saunas are hotels, not health clubs. You come there for a "rest" in the daytime or for an overnight "sleep". Because the subway and the buses stop to operate in Tokyo at midnight, many late customers in the gay bars would stay the rest of a night in a sauna as a hostel.

I wouldn't call him handsome, but that is subjective. The massage started with him in his underwear. Strength was a bit weak but there was a fair amount of teasing. He removed his underwear towards the end and gave me a HE. I paid an extra ¥1000 for us to shower together and that was enjoyable. Minato was quiet throughout the massage. He only started chatting when we were showering. Overall a nice experience. I think among the massage options in Osaka, Taiyo is the most tourist friendly as you don't need any Japanese at all.

I took the 90 min aroma oil massage for ¥13000 total. With the weak Yen, it is really very reasonable.

You must have visited a very traditional, local, onsen. 

It used to be that the whole family would visit the onsen, and share the same hot pools, regardless of gender.

In Japan, nude onsens are separate for men and women. However, a father can sometimes still bring his daughter to the men's onsen if she is still very small (like less than 5 yo). I guess that was the case.
