This program is a non-essential process, but should not be terminated unless suspected to be causing problems.Description:File SkypeClient.exe is located in a subfolder of "C:\Program Files". The program listens for or sends data on open ports to LAN or Internet. The file is not a Windows core file. Therefore the technical security rating is 26% dangerous, however also read the users reviews.Important:Some malware camouflage themselves as SkypeClient.exe, particularly if they are located in c:\windows or c:\windows\system32 folder. Thus check the SkypeClient.exe process on your pc whether it is pest. Please note the 'Important' section above.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Comment 02: hitex Posted: February 23, 2008 07:14 pmhave found same info after a search on skype.exe.but could not make head or tail of the "important remarks".thank you anyway------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Comment 03: oralb Posted: February 23, 2008 11:27 pmbasically, what it meant is the execute file is a geninue one, esp if you downloaded it and installed into the c:/program files.however some virus can disguse themselves as that file hereby tricking you to believe that it is real. one sign is the location of the file, which is indicated.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Comment 04: hitex Posted: February 24, 2008 01:18 pm(oralb @ February 23, 2008 11:27 pm)installed into the c:/program files.understand now.thank you very much-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Comment 05: SunDevil Posted: March 01, 2008 11:40 amAs a rule of thumb, you should never download and install any executable files (.exe) that is a prerequisite for any files that you are looking for.More so if you're looking for video files. Cos' most of these prereq files are just trojan/virus etc. that will screw up your PC.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Comment 06: hitex Posted: March 01, 2008 11:48 amwhen installing, there is choice/option prompt to instal into program file, what the virusdo? does it go straight to hd or there is option on installing during executing?thank you--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Comment 07: SunDevil Posted: March 01, 2008 11:59 amHitex, if the downloaded video file prompts you to install any program into your pc before you can view it, then it's definitely a virus. And most of these virus-laced files will not give you an option on installation. If you don't install that program, you won't be able to watch the video. It'll be easy if the virus just goes into your hd. What most of these viruses/trojans do is that they will install themselves into the registry of your OS and do all kinds of stuffs that will either slow down your PC or screw up your OS. Some will use your PC to simulate a DOS attack on other PCs.We're living in a world where millions of PCs are connected to each other....so I would say, expect the impossible! smile.gif-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Comment 08: hitex Posted: March 01, 2008 12:31 pmthank you sundevil.my understanding is that when installed into program folder, it can be uninstalled byadd/remove feature in windows.the other is, it self-instal itself like a cookie. then there is problem. can it be correctedby recovery process by going back to an earlier date.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Comment 09: SunDevil Posted: March 01, 2008 05:20 pmHitex,Most legitimate programs can be uninstalled from Add/Remove program in Control Panel or they come with their own uninstaller. But most of these "bad" programs do not. Even if you manage to uninstall them, it'll be too late cos' the virus script that comes with it would have been deeply embedded into your OS already. The best way to fix this problem is scanning your PC using anti-virus programs like AVG, Avast, Spybot etc.Doing a System Restore will not work, especially in XP. smile.gif-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Comment 10: hitex Posted: March 01, 2008 06:12 pmsundevil, thank you for your kind leads.i have avg - subscribed version.putting off installing any prgm at the moment.warmest regards Quote Click Here To Visit My Blog @ "The Blessed Life" *Let me live my life to be an instrument of 'Love', in how I speak and in how I see others* - May there be Love and Peace beyond all understanding -
