This was on top of the downtime from 26-28 Apr as reported: https://www.blowingwind.io/forum/topic/95298-blowing-forum-downtime-26-28-apr-2018/ That Optimisation and Re-organisation of the old-site resources did NOT hold well. We had to move to a new and more powerful Hosting-Service Provider. 2. What we did over the "Labour-Day Long Weekend". a. Procured a new more Powerful Hosting Site (still in the USA) with 2x more CPU power, RAM and Disk Storage compared to the old site. Moved ALL (i) 2 Million Posts (ii) 70K Topics (iii) 40K Members to the new site. For perspective, the old hosting site has served us from Dec'12 - Apr '18. In that 5 years, BW Posts/Database and Membership more than Tripled. b. We also did Software Upgrade to the (i) Forum Software (ii) Operating System (iii) Database and other system software. Check out some of the forum software new features. 3. With such massive changes, there are bound to be bugs and rough corners. Also as the move was rushed, we did not have time for adequate Planning and Testing. Expect some sudden shutdown/restart as we may need to do some emergency optimisations/fixes to the new site. Please report/post all bugs/problems in this topic and we will to look at it We apologise in advance for this. 4. For those concerned about BW financials, we like to assure readers that while this upgrade will cost us more $, it was already "budgeted" and the mods had saved some cash for this upgrade. Operating cost of the BW site comes from (i) Banner Advertisements you see at the top of the forum, so please support the advertiser; and at times (ii) Mod's own pocket. BW do NOT take any donations/funding. We are managing OK, The mods are committed to keep BW operating and keep it Free for all Members and Guest. 5. Was worried there was intervention from Big Bro to shut down BW. Think this forum has now become a "refuge" for many of us.
